NOTE:

On 28 September 2016, I sent a message to my cousin Una Niche asking for her help in finding the marriage records of Timothy Dargan (also known as Dorgan), born in 1844, and Johanna O’Gorman. Timothy was my great-granduncle, the son of Patrick Dargan (Dorgan) and Johanna Flynn, my great-great-grandparents. This generation lived in East Cork during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and, unlike their counterparts in West Cork, they transitioned from speaking Irish to English. Consequently, the spelling of our family name changed from Dargan (Ó Deargáin / Dargan) to Dorgan.
