Obituary
Earl E. Herzog Jr., 84, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 17, 2010, at Miriam Hospital in Providence after a brief illness. He was the devoted husband of Corinne H. (Dorgan) Herzog.
Born in Providence, he was the son of Earl E. Herzog Sr. and Annis S. (Harrison) Herzog-Sacs. Mr. Herzog joined the U.S. Navy in 1943 and served in the South Pacific as an Aviation Ordnanceman. He was discharged from active duty in 1946 and later honorably discharged from the Naval Reserve in 1967. He graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School and the Rhode Island School of Design.
He lived in Providence before moving to North Smithfield, where he worked as a designer at Joan Ann Fabrics in Woonsocket for several years. He owned and operated a textile mill in Burrillville and later lived in Chelmsford, MA, for two years, then in Cumberland, RI, and Aberdeen, NC, before returning to Greenville in 1964.
He worked as a technical textile designer for the former Quaker Fabrics of Fall River for more than thirty years, retiring in 2006.
In addition to his wife, he leaves four sons: Robert Herzog, Richard Herzog and his wife, Kathy, David Herzog, and Donald Herzog and his wife, Julie. He also leaves a sister, Beverly Midgley; four grandchildren, Cory, Courtney Ashley, and Kara; and a great-grandson, Dezmin, as well as several nieces and nephews.
