At a 50-year high school reunion for my alma mater, Cathedral High School, and 4 academies in Indianapolis: Ladywood, St. Agnes, St. Mary's, and Our Lady of Grace, I met a beautiful lady, Jane Kirkhoff Johnson. She was the reunion's decorations committee chairperson and I volunteered to be on her committee. We met on December 15, 2014, and married on August 2, 2019.

Susie died of cancer on April 2, 2000. She first contracted breast cancer in 1987, which eventually spread to her lung (in 1998), her brain (1999), and her liver (2000). We were all in Sanibel Island on spring vacation when she passed.
