Jim Maguire wrote this heart-wrenching email dated 24 July 2023:
I am very sorry to report that Rita learned that she has pancreatic cancer last November 11, 2022. She is very close to death now.
The hospice nurses predicted last Tuesday that she only had 24-48 hours to live. She is in a comatose state; and, in addition to hospice care, their daughter, Anne, is caring for her. Anne is a Physician's Assistant and left her position in the HIV ward at Mount Sinai Hospital in NYC when she learned of her mom's condition.
