Johanna Millerick was from Kilcreden, Ballymacoda, East Cork. She was married to William Dooley before she married Patrick Dorgan. Her gravestone in St. Colman’s Cemetery, Cloyne, reads: “Ellen Millerick of Kilcredan.” Buried with her are: Kathleen Doyle O’Sullivan, died 16 Nov 1943, Thomas Millerick, died 16 Nov 1953; Patrick Millerick, died 17 Jan 1961 and Ann Dorgan, died 19 Jan 1960. Thomas, Patrick, and Ann may have been Ann Millerick’s siblings. I do not know who was Kathleen Doyle O’Sullivan.

Your Ann Dorgan is not the daughter of Philip and Ellen Millerick.

Their daughter was born in 1887 as you can see from the 1911 Census.

The Kathleen Doyle O'Sullivan you refer to is my grandmother.

She married a man called Richard Doyle from Pilltown, Kinsalebeg, Co. Waterford, and lived in Killeagh. They had four daughters. One is my mother.

My grandfather died and she then married a man called Sullivan.

Hi Bill, Don't know if I have given you this before but this is the house that Johanna Millerick lived in while married to Wm. Dooley. Ballykinealy (Ballykenneally) lands would have been in FitzGeralds of Desmond ownership up to the time of the Desmond rebellion. Subsequently, they would have come into the hands of Walter Raleigh when the Desmond lands were confiscated at the latter end of the 16th century. They then came into possession of Richard Boyle 1st Earl of Cork around 1602 and he was now leasing the Ballykinealy plowland back to the FitzGeralds by the lease to John FitzRedmond (FitzGerald). The year 1636 was therefore the beginning of FitzGerald’s history in Ballykinealy. They continued to have a presence in Ballykinealy until around 1908 when Catherine FitzGerald, widow of Michael Joseph FitzGerald B.L., sold the land and property to William Dooley. At the end of this site, they have made an error, I have tried to contact them - no luck. Catherine FitzGerald sold the farm to William Dooley in 1908. William Dooley died without issue on 19th November 1915. The farm was taken over by his brother Maurice Dooley who was married to Hannah Millerick of Kilcredan, Co. Cork. The Dooleys retained possession until the farm was sold to James Barry in 1954 and from 1980 it was in the possession of Ellen and Maurice Barry.

In 1902 Catherine FitzGerald took over the lease when her husband Michael Joseph died on the 13th January 1902 at the age of 83. The land itself was still in the ownership of the Longfield family but around 1914 was bought by the state and effectively the FitzGeralds owned the land themselves at this point.
